Summer Breaks
The Amadé Region of Salzburgerland has as
much to offer in summer as in winter.  Experience the
beautiful alpine landscape on foot, on a bicycle or horseback. Hike across the mountains and valleys or swim in the crystal lakes and
rivers. Or simply relax and take in the pure clear mountain air! Discover the Flora and Fauna of the region, the hospitable inhabitants

Amadebreaks.com recently organised a training camp for a group of cyclists from South Yorkshire in England, who successfully competed
in the 14th Amadé Radmarathon race at Radstadt. They were joined by 1,800 other competitors from all over Europe. For further

The towns of Radstadt and Altenmarkt which lie at an altitude of 856m, Zauchensee, further up the Valley at 1 350m,
and the town of Wagrain at 850m
are not just winter Ski resorts. Summer activities and interests include:
- Walking. Hiking trails are clearly marked throughout the Radstadt, Tauern and Dachstein area. Guided walking tours can be
arranged with an experienced guide or you might like to try the latest craze here, Nordic walking.
- Golf. Radstadt is a golfers paradise. There
is an 18-hole championship course with superb practice facilities. Tee times can be arranged, ask for details.

- Cycling. Cyclists can find marked routes throughout the area to suit all abilities. Ask for details. Cycle hire can be
arranged locally. The annual Radmarathon event, held in Radstadt every May, is open to all.
- Horse riding. There are many riding schools with indoor and outdoor facilities all with experienced instructors. Trekking
and horse drawn carriage rides are also available.
- Tennis. There are excellent tennis courts in the area.
- Swimming. Radstadt has an outdoor alpine swimming pool with 40m water slides open to the public. The Amadé Wasserwelt
('World of Water') is located in Wagrain.
- Toboggan rides. There is a summer toboggan run in nearby Flachau.
- Rafting and canoeing.
Sightseeing in the area includes:
- The Ice caves and castle at Werfen.

- The 'Sound of Music' tour of the Salzkammergut lakes.
- The City of Salzburg, the birth place of Mozart.
- Cable car rides up to the Dachstein Glacier and summer skiing.
- The Salt mines in Hallein.
- The Grossglockner Glacier and Mountain tour.
In addition, numerous local summer festivals are held throughout summer.
The Salzburgerland Card
It is advisable to purchase a
Salzburgerland Card which gives free or reduced access to over 180 Salzburgerland attractions. A 6-day card costs €37 and a 12-day card
is €46, half price for children and is available at a number of Centres in the area. Ask for details.
